"Ocean Green" Apartment
Location: Stöberplatz, Vienna
Area: 73m² + 38m² terrace
Design: 2021-2022
Realization: 2023
Idea:
Revitalization of a historic tenement house in the center of Vienna, involving the reconstruction of the interior of a former workers' hotel, and giving a contemporary function to the existing context. The project includes four apartments for short-term rental. A visual identification was created for the investment, adopting the use of the leitmotif of color in each apartment, while maintaining the coherence of the entire concept. The design challenge was the building itself, which was not adapted to the modern conditions of use, including: the narrow route of the building, the lack of sanitary facilities in the premises and the problematic light exposure, or the lack of it in the interiors. Counteracting today's disgraceful standards of constantly reducing living space, we decided to combine smaller studios into spacious, fully functional apartments.
Description of the apartment:
The apartment's entrance hall is connected to a spacious open-plan living area with a kitchenette and dining room. The living room integrated with the magnificent terrace creates a vast, all-year-round relaxation space. The apartment is designed for five people, however, its layout in the open space type also allows for the organization of occasional party. The project uses unconventional solutions, such as internal hammock, sliding modular furniture or raising the beds to obtain additional storage and work space.
