"Bauhaus Blue" Apartment

Location: Stöberplatz, Vienna

Area: 65m²

Design: 2021-2022

Realization: 2023

Idea:

Revitalization of a historic tenement house in the center of Vienna, involving the reconstruction of the interior of a former workers' hotel, and giving a contemporary function to the existing context. The project includes four apartments for short-term rental. A visual identification was created for the investment, adopting the use of the leitmotif of color in each apartment, while maintaining the coherence of the entire concept. The design challenge was the building itself, which was not adapted to the modern conditions of use, including: the narrow route of the building, the lack of sanitary facilities in the premises and the problematic light exposure, or the lack of it in the interiors. Counteracting today's disgraceful standards of constantly reducing living space, we decided to combine smaller studios into spacious, fully functional apartments.

Description of the apartment:
The apartment was inspired by the ever-living Bauhaus school in its modern version. The main color is navy blue, broken with intense reds reminiscent of the splendor years of the art déco style. A multifunctional space that can be rented by four guests. The applied acoustic curtain enables separation of the work and leisure zones. A hammock connected to a bookcase hidden in the living room, allows for a moment of relaxation in comfortable conditions. The bedroom has a spacious wardrobe with an industrial character and a dressing table with a light, geometric form.
